a sybarite in paradise
reviewing the food & entertainment pleasures of Honolulu

There’s nothing like a Zippy’s chicken mini pac ($5.25) to satisfy a hunger for fried food. You get two crispy mahogany chicken thighs that are plump and juicy, deep fried to perfection. The thin crisp fries on the side are just the way they should be. They have all kinds of other local food, but the chili rice is the only other thing I’ve had for lunch. It’s onolicious.

Howard and I recently went to a Zippy’s for breakfast and it wasn’t so good. It was from the takeout window at a location without the sit down side. My omelet was greasy and tasteless. However, we’ve also had nice breakfasts at the table service side of the Zippy’s next to their headquarters on King St.
